This is a true account of my fathers wartime adventures.    

It has taken me over 30 years to complete, a lot of tears and laughter have been part of it.

Some of the memories that my father had were painful in there telling.    Wishes that he had, and promises made, sometimes never came true.   But for all that it has been done, many of my fathers stories are harrowing.   I know that they invoked dreams that he has had over the years, my mothers words told me that.

Since his passing I have had many questions that I would, should have asked him, but now they are never going to be answered.

Still one that I did ask as a teenager was "Dad what did you do in the war".......the answer when it came then was ......."I did Nowt"

But as the years rolled by, father did tell me, slowly at first, then as he and I  grew older  it came in a torrent.   Knowing that if he did not, it would remain hidden.
